Cameron/Yturralde Family Journey...
Life is good, it's summer break, it's over 100 degrees outside (yay for living in Phoenix during summer months!), kids are bouncing off the walls, brothers and sisters start to bug each other since we are locked inside air conditioning... it feels like just another summer slipping by. Then life take a sharp turn...
What seemed like some growing pains or just a "dancing" accident kept on. After trying some ibuprofen and physical therapy to work it out, it was decided to go ahead and get an MRI to see what was going on. Then on July 2nd, the Cameron family got the news that Elizabeth's mass on her hip was malignant. (Did I say "sharp turn"?) After a long weekend of waiting to hear more details (offices closed due to the holiday weekend)... on Tuesday, July 7th "it" was given a name - ewing sarcoma.
Elizabeth amazes me - she has been in so much pain through this - poked, prodded, scanned and so much more - but she still finds the strength to smile and make jokes. They have an AMAZING family support system, and a very tight community around them... it's time to lock arms and lift this family up!
Treatment is starting immediately and will last for approximately one year - they are attacking with chemo and hoping to not have to do surgery. The medications alone that Elizabeth will have to take after chemo are going to be very expensive. We are starting this page to help support this amazing family on this journey. The last thing they need to be worrying about right now is money... that's where you and I come in. If a lot of us can pitch in a little, we can make a big difference in this family's life.
